25 Years of SLEAZE presents: Holy Mountain + Rapid Tan + Rocket Reducer – 23rd October 17th October, 2016

holy mountain

Holy sheeeiiit….

As part of our ongoing series of events celebrating the 25th anniversary of NICE N SLEAZY we are proud to present Scotland’s premier DOOM N ROLL band :

We lusted over them as a ferocious 2 piece and we fell deeply in love with them as an accomplished 3 piece that rose through the Chemical Underground roster to become an international touring sensation. This is riff central. We’re through the looking glass here people.

Fire and sweat, layers of lava tone and tantalising groove, teasing melody and victorious battery left right n center, there is no escape from the Holy Mountain onslaught. Come see for yourself. We’ve known this lot since they were wee guys and damned if we aren’t proud to say that this will be some next level rock action.  TAPS AFF!

The best new post-punk / oddball pop band in glasgow. Members of all the bands you’ve seen loads this past couple of years and also Taylor ‘the boy’ Stewart. For fans of the Minutemen and Slayer.

New outfit with many riffs. Featuring ex members of Macrocosmica, Clocked Out, Bangtwister, Vakunoht and all sorts of other mainstays of the long list of Glasgow rock royalty. So you know this shit rips. Garage / Glam / Prog onslaught.

The Official Arab Strap Afterparty is TONIGHT 16th October, 2016

New Club: Formal Invocation 14th OCTOBER 13th October, 2016

formal invocation
Formal Invocation is a brand new night of post-punk, goth and electro cold-wave at Nice’n’Sleazy run by Possession Records the first of which will set a chill in the air on Friday 14th of October.  Ahead of its first outing we spoke to one of the DJs Andy Brown (Ubre Blanca, Kaspar Hauser)..
Possession Records is a very new venture – only emerging into the public sphere in earlier this year.  Who is behind Possession Records and what prompted it’s creation?
It’s a joint venture between myself, JJD (aka Soft Riot) and Claudia Nova (aka Hausfrau). We began the label because all three of us have had frustrating relationships with labels in the past and felt we could potentially do it better ourselves. We all like the same kind of stuff too so hopefully that will help set the label’s direction and aesthetic.
What are you hoping to create (or invoke) with the new club night, Formal Invocation?
Something hard, something dirty, something dramatic and obviously something danceable! We want to mix together the modern and the classic – electro, italo, coldwave etc etc – basically lots of synths, processed rhythms and fat filthy arpeggiated basslines.
There will be a healthy selection of synthwave/horror electro tracks that I’m looking forward to playing through a big loud PA too – it’ll be like ‘Stranger Things’ if the upside down was poppers-drenched club night!!
What songs are you most looking forward to playing at the first Formal Invocation?
Definitely can’t wait to hear ‘Class Dagger’ by the king of horror electro Antoni Maiovvi getting blasted:
Some exciting, mysterious synthpop by Nouvelle Phenomene from Budapest:
And fantastic witchy italo from Helen:
Who are your favourite live acts at the moment?
Personally right now I love Happy Meals, Geneva Jacuzzi, Leatherette, Anxiety, Rapid Tan, Rattle, Shopping, Apostille and *obviously* my Possession Recs pals Soft Riot and Hausfrau <3
What’s next for Possession Records?
We’ve got a busy month; first up our first release is coming out on Friday October 21st, Hausfrau’s new EP ‘Trivial Pursuits’:
Then we’ll be co-hosting (with Nice’N’Sleazy) the only UK show for Montreal-based electropop queen Xarah Dion on Thursday the 27th, with Hausfrau and Soft Riot supporting!
